I think the Jets will be a VERY tough team to beat in the playoffs....big and tough
teams always seem to go a long ways in the Cup run.

Subban the embellish-er

$3000 for his 3rd offense. Chump change when you make $9 Mil a year. Suspensions without pay is the only thing that's going to remove this act from the game. As it sits it's an annoyance.

Re: [Hockey] Official~ NHL thread...........scores and highlites

Matthew Wuest brought the NHL’s complex salary-cap system to the masses through his wildly popular and influential website CapGeek. And he did it on his own, often from a laptop at his kitchen table in Halifax.

Wuest’s creation was the go-to source for salary and contract information for everyone interested in hockey. When he shut it down in January, fans and NHL insiders shared in the disappointment, not realizing that Wuest was battling colon cancer.

Wuest died Thursday at the age of 35.

This guy made understanding NHL teams financial dilemmas understandable. I sure miss his site.
R.I.P. Mr. Wuest - you helped me understand todays NHL from a different perspective.

Blues lose 6-3 to the Wild in St Paul despite playing a good game, the Blues had some odd bounces and just plain bad luck. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon in Detroit this bad luck doesn't follow them....

I think the Wild may upset a team or two if they make it into the playoffs...

Blues lose 2-1 to the Red Wings in OT. Justin Abdelkader scores with a broken stick on the power play in OT. it was my understanding that a player can not score a goal with a broken stick?

no need to score...you cannot play the puck with a broken stick period...it needs to be blatantly broken though, and the refs need to see it.

CBC has an article on the Abdelkader broken stick goal...
quote:
The goal, which came just 24 seconds into overtime was allowed to stand, but should it have? Abdelkader clearly scored while using a broken stick. NHL rules clearly state that a player caught playing with a broken stick is to be given a minor penalty and the goal certainly should not have counted.

»www.cbssports.com/nhl/ey ··· en-stick

quote:
The goal should not have counted and Abdelkader technically should have been given a minor penalty.

Blues win in OT in Pittsburgh. Former Penguins Marcel Goc and Robert Bortuzzo score against their former team. "Steen, Steen the Soring Machine" nets the OT winner... A very exciting game with solid goaltending from Marc Andre Fleury and Jake "the Snake" Allen...

SOG: MTL 28 WPG 10
Goals: MTL 1 WPG 3

There's always something amusing about a game where the shots on goal and score don't really line up.

Flames lose 4-2 to the Wild last night.

Kevin Shattenkirk returns to the Blues tonight in St Lou when the Note hosts the Blue Jackets... Should help on the powerplay and in the shootout...

Devan Dubnyk has been incredible and picking up Chris Stewart gives them some toughness, size and skill...Still upset the Blues dealt him last year...

And the Kings are slowly edging up in the standings. Now in 8th with a game in hand on the Jets. Kings play the Wild tonight. Should be a wild game...

Bruins are staying alive as they beat the Rangers 4-2. Already got a phone from a friend, a Facebook message from another and regular e-mail from a third. There's a lot of Bruins fans in HRM...

Blues loose 4-2 at home to the Blue Jackets as Columbus wins 8 straight games on the road. The Note started without Oshie in the lineup and Steen left the game in the 1st with a lower body injury....

By the time these teams wear themselves out competing for a play off spot they will have nothing left for the Cup run.
