The Comcast Trick

I don't know it it applies to your situation, but there's a trick to dealing with Comcast. The trick is call again.

Like AOL in days of yore, Comcast outgrew its britches. The result is that many of its service reps--to call them that--are independent contractors interested in nothing but getting the fee for the service call.

Add in Comcast's own employees who were asking "fries with that?" last week, and things degenerate.

My experience is that about 1 out of 4 Comcast guys knows what he's doing, or cares about being a real technician. That means it takes, on average, 4 calls to get anything fixed.

Realizing this awhile back, I simply made "call again" my motto. Not immediately, because the office might just turn the same guy around and have him come back, which would accomplish nothing.

But if you call that night, I find, a new guy will show up. And at some point the law of averages kicks in and you get a tech who wants to, and will, fix things.
