The rules have changed over the years. See the furor over the '99 SCF winning goal. Back then, the rules also required the player to have possession when entering the blue paint.

The Brutal calls kind of balanced out, as they scored a goal on a non-boarding call moments earlier.

That being said. Didn't they use to call Holmstrom all the time just for having part of his skate on the blue part of the ice. I actually remember a number of goals called back when he wasn't. IE a goal would go in while he was on the blue, they wouldn't call it, then call a few back where he wasn't.

I started to believe that players couldn't enter the blue part of the ice?

Maybe not direct contact with the goalie, but their presence there restricts the goalies ability to move or make the save?

I dunno I thought it was BS when they used to call back all the Holmstrom goals.

Maybe people are right where the referee's were trying to make up for the non-call that resulted in a goal earlier in the game.

It wasn't even a dirty hit.

It was about two things:

1) an injury resulted from the play,

and

2) it is Raffi Torres.

He had a 25 (reduced to 21 by Bettman) suspension last year that ended up being 13 games of the playoffs and 8 of the regular season to start this year. He learned......well....obviously nothing. Now, he knows that he can do pretty much anything and the NHL will never give him more than 5 games as then he'd be able to go to the appeal process that the new CBA has created.

This is Torres' 4th suspension in less than 30 months. Does anyone really think he's anything other than a menace to other players?

Yeah, even my man TJ Oshie scored for the Americans.

On local sports in HRM it was mentioned Ovechkin played with a hairline facture in his foot in game 6 against the Rangers. Not sure if it happened in game 5 or in game 6...

Yup and if they had been playing in a tougher division probably wouldn't even had made the playoffs........which is what they deserved.

Sadder even still is that Gillis and Vigneault still have jobs...........just goes to show you how much the Aquilinnis know about hockey.

Canucks will be in the bottom for the next few years and hopefully will be able to get some draft picks in trades this summer. :(

I'm always a bit bummed when they are touring the west coast because the games come on at 7. I have a friend whose a Leafs fan and likes the early starts too.

Yeah the LAK/SJ series might as well be the "Train / Bus" series. Barely 500km between the two points almost makes no sense to fly between the two cities (though you know they will :D)
