| Yeah, I agree with this. I probably won't notice either way.
It still continually surprises me, though, the number of utterly arcane and borderline psychotic controls placed on -- of all things in the structure of global importance -- moving pictures. Oh well...it's a function of the amount of money involved. -- "I'll follow the law until it's just stupid." -Ted Nugent |

 | reply to badtrip Doesn't bother me one bit either. I can wait a whole month longer just to get it sent to me and not burn gas to run to the video store to find the video store only got 5 copies and they all got rented out as soon as they opened that day. If I have to wait then I have to wait. |

Haven't even watched Avatar and Star Trek yet and I love Sci-fi. Might watch it sometime this winter. They won't spoil like produce Or any thing. Maybe added scenes that were deleted for the big screen....more value.
Know a few people who has to see the movie before everyone else. I don't get it It's only a movie.

In the meantime, we can use that 28 days to watch last month's new releases that are at Netflix today. And there is NOTHING put out by Hollywood these days that is so good that I can't wait a few weeks. The studios think waaay too highly of themselves.
said by XknightHawkX: just to get it sent to me and not burn gas to run to the video store to find the video store only got 5 copies and they all got rented out as soon as they opened that day. Amen. I used to goto Blockbuster all the time, and got sick of the game. Then I subscribed to Netflix about 5 years ago and haven't been back to Blockbuster since. If it's on DVD, Netflix almost always has it. All Blockbuster had was the newest releases, surrounded by walls of the same old tired, stale, college frat videos and chick flicks. They never rotated inventory.
The local store had the same titles for so many years, the boxes on the shelves near the windows on the west side of the building were extremely faded from the afternoon sun. |

| reply to Majestik I never understood the reasoning behind having to see it opening day. My friends would annoy me that "Oh, you didn't see it???" Um, it just came out. Anyway, I did see Avatar in 3D (Imax) and have to admit, it was amazing. But I saw it 3 weeks before it was pulled (still drew a crowd).
Good things come to those that wait. Netflix paid for itself in the savings over buying media (how many DVDs I bought that now, are streamed and valueless)... |

If I have to wait then I have to wait. Agreed. In fact, I can think of a number of times when I've walked past a display of new releases in a store, stopped when some movie caught my eye that I've been meaning to see, and added it to my Netflix queue then and there. |

| reply to cableties God damnit 3D movies. All they've served to do is separate more of my cinema money for an experience that ranges from eyestrain (Alice in Wonderland) to "meh, I didn't notice" (Avatar). The theaters in my area have started to only show 3D films, so the cheaper option is no longer available.
And they wonder why we're going to the movies less and less. $15 now for unnecessary 3D, then refreshments? God damn. |

 | reply to beavercable We still have a Family Video in our area. They actually opened in the area about 2 or 3 years ago and the two more expensive movie stores in the area closed. I want something sooner I'll go to Family Video otherwise I'll wait for Netflix to send it to me. |

SLDPremium join:2002-04-17 San Francisco, CA | reply to fAcEtIOUs As long as they don't keep locking out the DVD controls - making you watch 15 minutes of previews and commercials to see the title. I've had a few of these. |
|
 | reply to Thaler So would you say for every 10 movies they add they should raise the rate $.10 or maybe every 1000 movies they raise it $1?
Point being that just because they add more movies does not in anyway mean it, as an absolute, has added more value. |

enter STOP, STOP, MENU and see if that doesn't get you right to the actual movie's menu screen, bypassing all the junk. OR, while the promos are running, enter EJECT, and repeat above after LOAD disk. This is hit or miss for me but usually works. -- "Our network engineers are aware of the problem..." |
