I seriously doubt you can extend the life of any rubber or synthetic seals with "treatment". Kind of like people who think Armorall makes tires and dashboards last longer.
When the seal wear out, you replace them.
Perhaps. Or perhaps not. While I respect your opinion, you don't really have any evidence to support your claim.
At any rate, I am pleased with the decision I made because I have noticed other improvements since applying the Meguiar's product I chose. The seals are less "grippy" now, and they are now absolutely quiet when going over rough/uneven pavement.
In the past, such road conditions would produce excessive noise from the seals as the body of the car flexed and the doors seals rubbed. Not anymore. And previous attempts with just water and soap were not effective in fixing this problem.
And besides, the Volkswagen manual explicitly states that such car care products can extend the life of rubber and plastic materials used in the vehicle. I would be inclined to heed the advice of the manufacturer, in this case.
