5 EAS Tests within 1 hour!??!?!?!

So Last night, was watching CNN during the mine rescue, there were FIVE EAS tests at 2:40am, 3:00am, 3:04am, 3:20am, 3:26am.

What the heck is going on? I'm in Southern California.
These EAS tests are annoying as heck too, they TAKE over the box, disrupts VOD, DVR, RECORDING.

Satellite never screwed with the box in EAS tests...

I twittered @FIOSTV and this is what they wrote back:

"we don't push the button... that's your local authorities"

"EAS requires a tuner - and we have to interrupt DVR, VOD and Live TV viewing"

Gawd this is awful.

Verizon has no control over the tests -- they come from the agency. And since VH03 in Southern California is such a wide area, many agencies are involved, all from Ventura to Los Angeles to Orange to Riverside counties.

geez, what did we do when it was just broadcast TV? You'd get maybe one a month but it wasn't on all channels. It never blacked out the screen and completely disrupted your TV viewing.
