Today I tried to upgrade my NS2 to the latest firmware. Went to ubnt and downloaded the latest firmware: v.3.5.1. Uploaded the file to the unit and noticed this:
FIRMWARE UPGRADE Current Firmware Version: XS2.ar2316.v3.5.4476.091013.1749 Uploaded Firmware Version: NS2.ar2316.v3.5.1.4631.300610.1936
I didn't think this was a problem Pressed the upgrade button and I guess the unit did it's thing. Now, the unit doesn't come up. The PWR light is not bright as usual and can't reset it or do anything else with it. No lan no nothing....
Can someone please explain what happened or what I did wrong?
Well it doesnt sound like you have done anything wrong and it seems like the unit is now bricked There are only a few possible causes for this corrupted firmware, a bad unit or power was disconnected during / before flashing was complete
Mike has said in the past that the firmware upload page does a crc check of some sort to make sure the firmware isnt corrupted during the upload stage to the device.
Ya its pretty tough to completely brick it, it has a built in TFTP recovery mode built into the bootloader, so unless something overwrote that, you should be able to recover it, if that is overwritten you are done, and fixing it is involving jtag cables.
