Re: [Extreme Plus] Utorrent Settings and Rogers Hey all - we've been following the conversation here and wanted to jump in with an update. As some of you are aware, Rogers recently made some upgrades to our network management systems that had the unintended effect of impacting non-p2p file sharing traffic under a specific combination of conditions. Our network engineering team is working on the best way to address this issue as quickly as possible. However, I'm not able to provide any updates at this time about when this will be fixed. Our network management policy remains unchanged. You can find details of our policy here (»www.rogers.com/web/content/netwo···nagement). We are working hard to ensure that there are no gaps between our policy and the technology that enables that policy. |

The fact that Rogers thinks it's okay to leave the service this messed up for this long appalls me. >:( |

 | reply to RogersKeith So you admit you are at fault, with no possible end in sight.
Surely this must mean you are going to offer compensation to all being affected by your 'unforeseen' changes to network management? We don't pay high subscription rates for below standard cable service.
Thanks, |

 | Downloading a 7.3Gb Unix distribution connected to 11 of the distribution hosts at various universities around North America... and guess what... 13.5k/s download... GOT TO LOVE ROGERS 18mbit/s high speed internet.... and there "we don't throttle downloads just upload". |

 | Yes, here in London this weekend has been the worst for download speeds I have ever seen with Rogers in the last 3 years. I am lucky to get 2.00kbs if it does manage to get to 24kbs it only lasts a second and goes right back to only 2. kbs Would complaining to the crtc do any good? |

The more people that complain, the faster they'll fix the problem. |

I'm looking to see if there's an alternative ISP I can go to (aside from Bell). |

 | reply to RogersKeith RogersKeith...
Whatever Rogers did, I really don't care.
I upgraded to a higher speed service because I needed a higher bandwidth cap. The Rogers tech (contract worker I'm sure) used the same power source as the old modem which provides 0.75A less than the previous one.
Different mode, different power requirements.
Rogers not only obviously falls short on the experience of the workers they send out, but they obviously lack in the customer experience market as well.
Since this upgrade I have not been able to download torrents and connect to World of Warcraft at the same time.
Since this upgrade my torrent download speeds have been pitiful. Yeah, legal torrent in large file size downloading at under 50KB/sec as most of the people here have reported.
Rogers needs a wakeup call, because they're going to lose many customers to better priced and more fair competition.
For less than $50/month I'll get a 10mbit, 125GB/month service that does no traffic shaping.
You can take my $840/year and shove it. 1,000 customers do this and Rogers now loses almost $1 Million in sales.
Have fun with your network issues and blame it on some BS but I know what's going on and it stinks so I'm leaving.
I suggest anyone who has dealt with this for long enough do the same, give your business to a company that actually wants it.
BTW I was on a 10meg service with the older two antenna SMC modem and it was amazing. My biggest issue was going over cap some months.
Immediately after being upgraded to a higher bandwidth service and getting a new modem, my internet world went to hell.
Rogers screwed people over back in the days of the LANCity modems forcing them to upgrade or cut off service, and lately it seems like we're seeing another round of screw the consumer.
RogersKeith, I wouldn't want your job, because all you do is shell out excuses for a big company that really doesn't give a shit. |
