[Internet] RR Lightning SBG6580 Modem with Dlink DGL-4500 Setup?

Could you please tell me how to setup my Dlink DGL-4500 Router with the new Road Runner Motorola SBG6580 Modem provided by CFL Brighthouse. The modem they installed no longer has a WAN port to hook my DLINK router into: Motorola Model SBG6580 to a Dlink DGL-4500 Router. Thanks... Richard

Sure it does Richard. Just plug it into port 1 and make sure the SB modem is bridged and you're good to go. I also have a DGL-4500 laying around here somewhere so if you get stuck holler at me.

So, can you tell me how to make the SBG6580 in Bridged mode with the DGL-4500? Thanks... Rich

@rr.com

You need to call BHN and ask for internet support. Then tell the CSR you need to have your new modem configured in bridge mode. The CSR will then transfer you to a higher level of support. That's it. You can't do it yourself.

Hope that helps

Re: [Internet] RR Lightning SBG6580 Modem with Dlink DGL-4500 Se

I got these instructions from the Brighthouse Tier 3 Tech Support:

1. Login into Motorola SBG6580 modem with admin and password.

2. Click on Wireless (Top Menu)

3. Click on Primary Network

4. Disable Wireless then click Apply

5. Click on Basic (Top Menu)

6. Change NAPT mode to Disabled

7. Click Apply

The modem will now reboot and should be in bridged mode.

Hook your personal router's WAN port to Port 1 of SBG6580. Hook your other LAN equipment to your personal router's LAN ports including the origianl PC you used to configure the SBG658. All is working great. Thanks for you guidance... Rich

Yup those be the instructions. We have them posted here as well already and as you can see it works just peachy.
