This whole 11 pages worth of post makes me want to rage.
My problems haven't been on your scale, or some of the others I have read about, but it does make me lose hope that I can rely on this company to be straight up with me. Also from past experiences I know I can't trust them to live by their word. I can only hope that there are enough people in my area that they don't have a choice....

They get taxpayer money ,and the money from subscriptions. They obviously sell bandwidth in areas that can't handle the load for more money. What do you think the percentage would be of customers that take this all the way to the FCC or BBB? I bet it's low.
I wonder how many others continue to pay the regular monthly price for 1/20th the speeds? There has always been huge pressure to show profits each year for many many reasons, and without any sort of moral compass driving the upper management/CEO of this company the regular Joe will always get it up the backside.
I will continue to keep up with this website ,and hold them to their Sept 30th ETR they gave me, but even as I say that I have little confidence that it will come to pass. However, if they do I will be straight up and post it. Obviously , if they don't I will take this as high as I can go. If for no other reason than to make a statement that some people will take a stand and not be pushed around.

Thanks for posting this info for all of us. It is a great way to to keep a public record, and helps the community as a whole. GL

My ETR in Feb 2011 was June 2011, then when June came it was pushed to December of 2011. I have been having trouble ever since then and as of yesterday my ETR is (you guessed it) December 2012.

I have 21 straight days of sub .50 connection (that I have records for) on a 3.0mbps line, speed test taken with and without my router connected. I know of 7 other people on the same DSLam with the same problems.

Windstream has shown in places they have no competition they do not plan on spending money, the money they are receiving you can guess where it is getting spent. Windstream has spent of a billion dollars acquiring 2 companies in the last two years.

I guess they are just worried about getting new customers instead of taking care of the ones you have got.

No problem. I just wish it did more good. Just goes to show how little they care about their customers. Over 20 months of speeds like this and there is no plans in place to fix it.

I've got the same story except mine has only been for 8 months now. Promised three different "equipment upgrade/fiber install" dates, all to pass with no work done. I've recently been informed that my central office is in the 'spreadsheet' of systems waiting until fourth quarter 2012 for evaluation.

If I could find *ANY* other hard line based internet provider I would be gone along with my phone and satellite subscription they have.

So now Windstream is trying to sell people in my area an additional DSL line for $15 dollars a month. Telling them it will help with congestion? Seriously? Can someone from Windstream explain to me how adding MORE DSL lines to an already oversold remote will help with slow speeds? Will this not make the issue worse?

Windstream speed is so bad. I have been calling them for the past 3 months and get the same old story. They are working on upgrades. I don't see how they can legally charge me for 12 mbps of speed when I can't even get 1 mbps.

have you tried talking w/ attorney general's consumer affairs dept? there is a new program "got your back arkansas" (google it to find out more...). I'm trying to have them talk to WS to get some answers: what upgrade to their equipment is planned; and when. I'd like to have the AG ask them "how have you spent your federal monies to improve HSIC access in rural areas?"
OK, just wanted to say hello, "feel your pain". ha.

Pablo

Hey Pablo. I filed a complaint with the AG over a year ago. They were not much help back then. I will look into it tonight and complain again. Thanks for the info.

So I had opportunity to talk w/ "on the ground" WS tech-- they really do have some nice, gifted employees... (here in Montgomery Co. Arkansas & the customer service folk I've communicated with here on-line & talked w/ by phone)-- wouldn't it be cheaper just to spend the money to improve the service vs. "customer service" offensive? Ah! but i digress...
anyway, local techs are well aware of broadband problem, "everyone is complaining about the poor speeds at night." "It involves this entire area; this county & ones nearby..." "They have to make some improvements at Little Rock to accommodate all the subscribers in this area." "They don't listen to the local tech guys. We have some valuable information about the problem, but they tell the customers, 'We'll send a technician out to fix the problem.' " "But the problem is on our side; we don't have enough bandwidth as things are presently configured." He also confirmed that there is fiber-optic cable to the box (OPM) just about a mile away, but that it's not connected to anything. He's not sure why it's not connected. Thinks the changes in Little Rock (90+miles away) have to be made initially to improve access. He thinks the present poor service is related to decisions made solely on financial considerations. "It's a money issue; they could easily improve the performance in this area, but they don't want to spend the money."
FYI,
Pablo

Yeah the local techs are always very helpful. It is not their fault they work for such a greedy and dishonest company. Thanks for passing along the information that you received. I will do the same if I ever get any new info.
