 | to cousinissac, Westell 7500 This HawTel forum is e-m-p-t-y. Hopefully it doesn't reflect a decline of dsl customers and that with HawTel's bk behind them they will be able to match the upcoming RR upgrades in the next 3-4 months. The 7500 is not the greatest. I asked a tech if I could buy one off the shelf but they said it might not work with their dsl.
Anyway, if you haven't figured it out yet, you can configure the 7500 to block outgoing traffic on those ports using the gui. Just go into the menu:
Security > Security Level
and set to High - Blocks all outgoing traffic except Mail, News, Web, FTP and IPSEC.
Then go to:
Security > Services > ALG
and uncheck any checked boxes if you want to block FTP and IPSEC.
If you need to open up ports that the High setting blocks, you can set it to Medium instead and set up port forwarding which is also set up through the gui.
If anything is annoying it's HawTel's peering. RR has more efficient routing which can affect latency for things affected by latency like multiplayer games.
The positive about HawTel is they are pretty reliable. Guess that's why I still keep the dsl. |
