Can I add a Wireless N router to my 2WIRE 2701HG-B?

I have a 2Wire 2701HG-B connected to AT&T DSL in California.

Can I attach an ASUS RT-N16 802.11b/g/n Gigabit Wireless Router
to the 2701, thus adding a separate wireless N to my existing wireless G ?

If so, would the 2701 prohibit the ASUS from achieving
anything close to it's potential wireless N speed ?

If so, would the 2701 lose it's ability for me to connect
to it via it's wireless G ?

If so, would the ASUS's 10/100/1000M capability be down
graded to only 10/100M ? or even totally lost ?

It would be interesting to be able to leave the 2701 connected
as is, and gain the added benefit of a separate dedicated
wireless N capability.

Thanks in advance for any insight or advice you may provide.

There is no need to make any configuration changes to the 2wire

Thanks for your reply Wayjac.
I've watched your replies to others in this forum and am impressed with your professionalism and knowledge.

If you know of any other forums that you think would help
me with my future router questions I would appreciate it.
or, if you think this one is all that I might need then I will
subscribe to it as a future information resource.

I have printed the linked FAQ that you provided for my future use when I finally decide to get a another wireless router with 11n. Christmas is coming!

Thanks Again.
