Gino's Grand Opening

It won't let me post in the existing Gino's thread... So here we are:

I gotta travel Friday and will be passing by KoP. I think I am going to modify my itinerary to include lunch at Gino's.

I was a regular customer at the Toms River Gino's in the 1970's. The girls at the counter would see me waiting in line and put my order in (a plain Heroburger [yeah, that's what they called it]) so I wouldn't have to wait. Gino Marchetti had a boat two slips away from ours.

I'll be making a trip to Harrisburg soon. Maybe I should make a detour to the south...

I am happy to report Gino's is excellent. I was able to hit it up for lunch and was very pleased.

There's nothing awesome in Harrisburg except for me.

How about Three Mile Island?

About the best you can do is drive by it. The only thing special about this nuclear reactor is its history. If you want anything interesting in the area, there's a pretty good amusement park in Hershey and a casino down the road in Grantville. Both are about 15-20 minutes away from Harrisburg.

We tried to go to Hershey Park. We got about 75 feet from the entrance, when my daughter suddenly felt ill. It was all in her head. She was afraid I'd make her go on Fahrenheit.

We did drive through Gettysburg around New Years. I then downloaded Ken Burns' series on the Civil War and watched the parts about Gettysburg. It was interesting after seeing the actual sites.

If you do ever decide to go hit up the park again, I strongly recommend getting a day pass during a school day. It's a ghost town and you can hit every single ride without a pass. Either right before school lets out or just after school begins, during the week.

There are some rides that are so dead, you can just stay on them as long as you want.

We got there at 5 PM on the Sunday before Halloween. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day. You couldn't ask for better weather at the end of October. And my daughter didn't want to go.

I stopped by Three Mile Island yesterday. Feel the glow.

No, but I don't need a night light anymore.

Further down the Susquehanna, there was another tall smokestack with a lot of vapor/steam/etc. What is that? A paper mill?

I've been around paper mills at a previous job, and I'd certainly prefer to live next to a nuclear power plant than a paper mill.

Might have been the steel mill.

I live on the other side of Harrisburg, so I don't really sit near that stuff, bordering Linglestown.
