[Brighthouse] Downloading videos and other files

I have an iMac using OS 10.4.11. When I try to view a video from sites like You Tube, after around 2 minutes, it will start to buffer and never restart. Is there a setting that I need to change? I have a broadband connection through Bright House cable and they tell me that I am getting a full strength signal from them. I also am not able to complete other downloads such as upgrades, etc. Everything seems to "time out."
