| Re: [Extreme Plus] Utorrent Settings and Rogers Well it's still shit here with any sort of torrents going, Keith seems useless too and is just covering it up. I've asked him directly for a credit for the last few months and he conveniently stopped responding.
My submission went through with the CRTC, they contacted Rogers and determined they were throttling and asked them why, Rogers's lawyer did respond on the last day they had (a month later) and made some bogus claims. The CRTC replied to him and required Rogers to clearly indicate what their current throttling policy is in the next 30 days or to stop doing whatever new throttling they are doing to downstream.
Personally i don't think anything will change, I'm going to dump rogers any day now.
WHile i'm not sure if it's related, but I'm also not able to have 2 computers at my house on a single modem playing WoW at the same time in a raid when I previously have been doing it for years. Only reason i'm suspecting it's rogers's new throttling is because how it does it, both computers will with WoW will lag out the same way if a torrent was going eventually disconnecting me. |

| well i quoted some key points in their latest net neutrality guidelines and outlined specifically what rogers was doing that was going against it and explained out.
really all that's going to come out of this (if anything), is that Rogers will be forced to eventually put their 'real' network policy up and indicate that they are throttling downstream torrents too. my only hope is when that happens they finally fix their shitty inability to throttling and ruin other protocols while its happening (like games, or other streaming things). |

 | This whole business is bound to lose rogers a pile of customers and money. Assuming this is not an oversight but a planned action that is. Their losses would be much less if they revert the changes to their 'network management' shenanigans...
To try and completely choke off one of, if not the , most frequently used methods of internet use is a mistake. Let's make sure they understand this.
Rather than consider paying extra monthly fees for a fix (boxee etc.) on top of premium rates, I will definitely be cancelling all rogers services (3 wireless accounts and cable as well), as far as I know they are the only provider around that would think they could get away with it.
Very happy that I didn't get looped into a contract when I renegotiated my internet account with them in september right before this nonsense started. |
