 | [Connectivity] Outage right now? Sunday night Lost mine around 8:15est. Tried calling Comcast and am getting a busy signal. |

 | Looks like their DNS servers left a big, steamy load in their pants.
Back up now, BTW... |

 | reply to patryan9 What a PITA.
Tried calling their tech support, only to be knocked off with a busy signal.
Then I had to use my Android phone to troubleshoot the thing, and that's when I came to realize that (a.) Their DNS servers were dead. (b.) Google provides free DNS servers, which I quickly switched my router to. |

 | 75.75.75.75 & 75.75.76.76 are not working here.
Best temporary solution is to use non Comcast DNS like Open DNS 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 -- - Bill |

 | reply to patryan9 Still down here in Old Saybrook too. Made the DNS change suggested and am back up. Thanks |

 | reply to patryan9 Same here. I remembered that I had net access on my phone and used that to find a ton of twitter feeds updated on a google search.
Promptly set my router to use Google's DNS. I wonder how hard hit they were with half the Eastern Seaboard using their DNS as a main DNS service.
Funny how the Comcast DNS Server listing showed them all green when this issue started. |

 | If your router supports 3 dns lines, figure out which two dns comcasts gives you and write those down. Then add those to the first two lines and another source like google or opendns on the third. This will automatically cause your router to use the 3rd dns whenever the first two are not working. Only thing you'll notice is when everything seems snappier because you're the only person on your node who can use the net. |
