Why are we entitled at a cost to others?
I fail to understand how breaking the law should be protected by freedom. I fail to understand what happened to honesty, integrity, honor and many other character traits I grew up with. I fail to understand why people feel so entitled today. I fail to understand why people think they are entitled to a free copy of something that is owned and produced by a company. I fail to understand why people think it is okay to remain anonymous when it's sole purpose can only be to cause someone else misfortune while hiding from recourse. I hope the moral decay of our society does not lead us down the same path it has lead all other decaying societies!
Begin with the end in mind!
EDIT: And now I rest my case. It is okay if you can justify it.
It's people like you, JKM, who really contribute to the moral decay of our society by promoting blind obeisance to laws, no matter how idiotic they are. Decades ago, it was illegal for a black person to take one of the front seats on a bus. According to you, Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was an immoral criminal.
I use p2p services for the following:
1) Really downloading Linux distros (perfectly legal)
2) Downloading content is faster and easier than ripping it to both make backup (optical discs don't last) and keep my content on the NAS for easier access (illegal but I have 0 moral issues with using this method of backup for content that I already bought and paid for, regardless of what RIAA and MPAA think)
3) Some movies are impossible (and I really mean impossible due to lack of distributer interest) to get in certain regions. In any case, with region-locked content, I couldn't play them here.
