| Modem exchange, now can't stream internet radio Hey there guys -- been a while since I posted, (a good thing i reckon, as service has been flawless here in keene)
But a week or so ago my modem died, so nexicom gave me a new and supposedly better one, a CT5072t, and instantly I am having trouble streaming internet radio when before i could stream even while downloading other things at 1.0 MB /s.
I checked speedtest, down speed is 12Mb/s and up is 700 kb/s, so that should be ok. I can't remember ping and latency but they seemed fine as well. Is it possible that this new modem is just not up to the job?
I am running a home network with a router that has been bulletproof so far -- a Dlink DIR-655. I had WISH and QOS running on it with the old modem, but even tried turning those off with the new one -- to no avail. Please help! |

kudos:1 | hey there... it might be more helpful to call in and open a ticket but having said that .. can you provide an example of one of the streaming sites? We can test it from here and see if it's unrelated to the modem swap or not

I'm not talking about flash-browser based streaming, a la cbc.ca's media player, but winamp-type mp3 streams (i was using foobar2000) and never had an issue with a high bandwith classical site called avro baroque -- »klassiek.avro.nl The winamp address for them is »shoutcast.omroep.nl:8068/

kudos:1 | Hmmm... yeah, you should have no issues. Would it be possible to bypass the router and connect directly just to eliminate the router as the possible issue? I know the timing suggests the modem but we have thousands of those modems deployed and I've never heard of an issue like that - there's always a first of course
