"Intercepting" a total of 15L+ scam emails sounds like a days work for a spam filter. 2. "recovered over £110 million from cybercriminals" - I'd hope that means it was recovered for the victims, but it doesn't say that. Assuming it seems very optimistic. 3. This is interesting from the bottom: said by »www.itnewsafrica.com/?p=9814 : The commissions chairman, Mrs Farida Waziri, said after the United States of America with 65 per cent of cyber criminal activities and the United Kingdom with 9.9 per cent, Nigeria is the next hub of cyber criminals in the world with 8 per cent.
Not to sound cynical.. but.... Thanks for posting. It was interesting to read what type of "news" is posted abroad at least. |

I can see this type of mass mail proving it too! I am highly delighted to be in contact with you and sorry for the embarrassment this mail might be to you. I am Barrister Dr.jide Adele I am the Council Attorney To The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which has recovered over £110 million from cybercriminals in the last three years. Before these funds become confiscated or declared Unserviceable by the Finance Company where this huge deposit is lodged I am making every attempt to return these funds to their legal owners.
Particularly, I am concerned that funds withdrawn from your bank account which were subsequently sent to these cyber criminals via Western Union money gram are in immenent danger of being confiscated within the next Twenty official Working days.
Since have been unsuccessful in locating many of the legal owners I now Seek Your Consent to present you as the primary beneficiary of the £110 million recovered minus documentation fees. I will Take care of the Necessary Legal documentations that are required to back up any claim we may make. All I require is your honest Cooperation to enable us seeing this Deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed under Legitimate Arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law.
Awaiting your response. In your respond, please attach therein a Telephone number where I can call to discuss with you the procedures for the claim.
Best regards.
Dr.jide Adele Esq. EDIT to add: Of course a link to the news story will be included in the mass mailings to lend credibility to the scam. » www.itnewsafrica.com/?p=9814 |

If $10 can feed a child for a month ... they should be set for a decade or longer? |

said by Ivybridge_I7:... a Principal Staff Officer in the EFCC, Barrister Bala Sanga, ... This is too damn funny. I've had the word "Barrister" on my e-mail server's spam filter list for several years. Any e-mails containing that word are diverted. |

Also, the notification will most likely be typed in all capital letters. Perhaps it's the climate, but it seems that Nigeria has a lot of keyboards with broken CAPS LOCK keys. |
