Can't get new $20 Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go plan
I purchased the Mifi at WalMart about 3 months ago. I've been using the Broadband2Go $40/unlimited/30day plan. But I don't really need unlimited. VMU sent me an email notifying me of a new $20/1 GB/30day plan. It would be perfect. Showed up in my online account, but it wasn't time to renew yet.
Then, the original WalMart purchased Mifi went on the fritz. Wouldn't hold any sort of charge, and only worked when plugged into the wall charger. Called VMU Broadband2Go and they offered to send me a replacement. When it arrived, I called in to do the ESN swap. That went simply and easily.
Now, I log into my same account, and the $20 plan no longer shows up. I call in 6 days before it's time to renew my plan, to let them know the $20 plan is no longer showing up in my online account. I'm assured that when it comes time to renew, I can simply call in, and they'll add the plan to my account. I'm told that a trouble ticket is being created, and will escalate to the "higher department", and they'll take care of it. I'm assured that careful notes are being placed on my account, so this will not be a problem in 6 days when it is time to renew.
The time comes, and I call in. Two different CS agents cannot add the plan, saying that my device is not from WalMart. I'm told that it doesn't matter that the device is a warranty replacement, it still did not come from WalMart. I'm told that WalMart has to replace the device if I want the plan. (WalMart told me to call VM.) I'm also told that since my original device was purchased before Nov. 17 when the plan was released, that I am not eligible; it is only devices purchased after the plan was announced. I point out that emails directly to me, and the company press release says "This new offer, available only to consumers who have purchased or will purchase a Novatel Wireless MiFi® 2200 device or Ovation MC760 USB device from a Walmart store or from www.Walmart.com, provides 1 GB of data for an affordable $20/month price point." I ask to speak with a supervisor, who also tells me the same lies. But, I'm promised that a trouble ticket will be created, and I can wait up to 72 hours to have the issue resolved. Oh, and no Broadband in the meantime, unless I wish to purchase the $10 or $40 plans.
I've called 4 times now to speak with tech support. Twice I've been told that a trouble ticket will be created, and that I'll hear from someone "later today". I've never gotten that call.
Still, my account does not show the $20 plan as available.
Anyone know anyone there that can do something, or have any ideas of what I can try? Should I try to escalate with WalMart as well?
Thanks in advance.
Why? Because I used the service all I wanted while on the $40 plan, and discovered that my usage was well below the 1GB threshhold, so why not save the $20?
