SB6120 useless?Over the summer i sent in my old 6120 to have a replacement on it due to some issue with the firmware. I received a new one a week later. I called in to TWC (NYC) to have it provisioned and after a day of service I got cut off. What a I notice was the ISP is stated as Road Runner on speedtest. ( I use Earthlink) After a tech came and look at it, he found out that somebody else in NYC has the same exact MAC Address. So he installs their stock modem and it was great the first two days and back to regular crappy TWC speed. So after 4 months this sb6120 has caught my attention again. I guess my only option is to ebay it? The rep at motorola specifically told me that this will be my only replacement modem when I asked for it. |

Your post is difficult to understand. Did the tech say someone has that mac address in their provisioning system? Or it shows up in their network.
The modem isn't useless...Just something screwy with your provider...
Btw, Earthlink uses Time Warner infrastructure. |

The tech was not specific, he just mentioned that somebody in Manhattan has the same Mac address. I'm sure it's true considering when the sb6120 did work for me, it was of a different speed tier(15mbps) and Roadrunner. |

Well, for what it's worth a lot of routers allow you to clone your MAC address. So if someone clones your modem's mac address into their router then you can run into problems like this. |
