[TW] Earthlink

I signed up for 7mb Earthlink cable internet access through Time Warner about two months ago.
Speed tests reveal the download speed has dropped.
The maximum I ever got was 5mb early on.
Now it's in the 3.3 to 1.5 range.

What cable company provides your service? Where are you located? Do you use a router? Is it a wireless router? What OS (XP,Vista,Win7) are you running? These questions will help us help you.

TW provides the service. No router yet. Hardwired ethernet from the cable modem to a 10/100 ethernet switch. Mac/Snow Leopard. I'm looking at a gigabit ethernet router and want to remain hardwired. A TW tech was wandering the neighborhood several weeks ago, checking the line. I asked him what was up. He said he was looking for a "leak."

I am totally out of my element when it comes to any Mac OS's . You might want to check in the Macintosh forum for tweaking info. »All Things Macintosh

The only other suggestion I would have would be to try connecting straight to the cable modem and see if you get any noticeable speed increase.
