Re: Surprising climate news Vaya con dios (as someone must say here in Virginia these days).
I don't know about you, but frankly I've come to prefer Christmas in England (and almost Wales). Maybe it's just one of these 'the grass is greener . . .' things. [Let's see how many people here pick up on that reference. ]
Best wishes for an enjoyable holiday to everyone. -- Regards, Joseph V. Morris |

So, you're here in the States and your wife is stranded in Shropshire? That doesn't sound any too real good.
She's going to be headed this way, or you're going to be headed that? |

Best of luck with your trip, though. Dave's too.
And I hope your wife steels through the weather with no ill effects. |

davePremium,MVM join:2000-05-04 not in ohio kudos:8 | reply to dave I'm back. By the time I got to the UK, there was a scarcely any snow worth mentioning, at least not in the Cirencester-to-Felixstowe axis. JV, how's Shropshire?
The British public appears to be in a mood for lynching the foreign (!) owners of BAA (apparently now an expansionless acronym, formerly the British Airport Authority). At least, so the Daily Mail tells me. |

jvmorrisI Am The Man Who Was Not There.Premium,MVM join:2001-04-03 Reston, VA | said by dave:. . . JV, how's Shropshire? Not sure yet. I'm due to have my biometrics updated tomorrow morning and then we'll see how it goes; last time I had telephone confirmation within 48 hours.
At the present time, Shrewsbury is showing -3C, some snow possibly Wednesday evening. However, since you left, they've gone through power, water, and telephone outages, so things were definitely getting stressed. At least they got the heating oil replenished on the 28th.
I'll book the flight probably about two weeks out once visa is confirmed. Hope I'm not going to regret putting in for a 10-year Family Visit visa. (Costs a damn fortune and if they shorten its term, you don't get a refund.)
And the doctor cleared me to fly on the 15th or later.
Will be a fairly short visit however, as I need to be back Stateside in second half of February for Cluster meetings. -- Regards, Joseph V. Morris |
