I was just curious because nowhere on the GrabIt website is there mentioned that further development was planned. The last released version (beta) was nearly 2 years ago. Information about continued development would most certainly generate continued interest in GrabIt. When I found no mention of it on the GrabIt website, I was curious as to where you got your information.
You posted about GrabIt 2.0 being released early next year without citing a reference or source of your information. I don't believe asking for your source of information was asking to much. -- Avast + Online Armor + WinPatrol + Router/SPI |

PhilRojo SolPremium join:2001-06-11 Camarillo, CA kudos:2 | reply to Stem Bolt Completely understandable. I've been in contact with Ilan Shemes via email which was started by submitting a support ticket through »www.shemes.com/. I simply asked about the future of GrabIt and whether or not the project was dead and his reply on December 12th was, "No it's not. I'm just not spending a lot of time on external communications. We have GrabIt 2.0 coming out in the beginning of next year."
In a follow up email I asked about the forums and here was his reply, "I'm not sure what I will do with the forums. It was taking me a lot of time fighting the spam and updating the software to stop hackers getting into the system. Also, I don't have time to answer all the questions in the forums and I didn't like all the answers that where given. It doesn't reflect how I feel about a lot of issues." Ilan hopes to spend some time on this issue in January or February...
I also asked about the cost of GrabIt 2.0 and here's Ilan's reply, "Yes it will be free. Same pricing structure as now: Free software with additional searches available for purchase."
I only posted this now as I wanted to first get the OK to pass this information on to others. If that's isn't proof enough I could screenshot the email, but not sure what more that would do based on the information I've already provided. |

So do I since I reported an annoying hang bug during download that never finishes with the last part with NZB. Here's his e-mail reply to me:

What other free alternatives are there for old, updated Windows XP Pro. SP3? GrabIt was the best one for me when I got it a couple years ago for NZBs. |

| Wow, three of them? Are they better than GrabIt? I only use it for NZB downloads. I do delete extra stuff like PAR2, SFV, SRR, NFO, etc. from the queue list. I also use pause, exit, and resume a lot. I do the manual test and extractions of the downloads. That's how I do it. |

To be honest, it's been several years since I last touched GrabIt. I can't really remember much about it. But I can recommend Unzbin and NiouzeFire. They work very well.
NiouzeFire will allow you to automatically delete, PARS, SFV, SRR, SRT, NFO and any other extensions you wish to delete. It will allow you to search www.binsearch.info for content within NiouzeFire. You can manually extract and unrar from within NiouzeFire.
Unzbin is just very compact and efficient. Very straight forward. Very reliable.
Give them both a try and see if you like them. -- Avast Internet Security + WinPatrol Plus + Router/SPI |

When you say delete PARS, SFV, SRR, SRT, NFO, etc. Do you mean before downloading? Does it delete from NZB too? The way I do it with GrabIt. I leave them in, but I tell GrabIt to skip these files. If I need them, then I can get those later if problems. |

Ah, I wanted before to save bandwidth, datas (do have caps), and time. Hence, why I tell GrabIt to ignore those parts. Do I assume I can do the same with the other three clients without tampering the downloaded NZB files? |
|
 | One cool thing about Binreader is that it only downloads the PAR files if necessary for repair. Otherwise it will skip them. With auto unRAR / PAR functions. That could help with the data caps without having to ignore parts. It will be interesting to see if GrabIt 2.0 includes similar functionality.

 | I really despise Altbinz these days. They log in your forum account everytime you startup Altbinz. I've been using Unzbin with NZBuddy with good results.
I stopped using SABNZD awhile ago after several corrupt archives which I thought were a coincidence at first |
