Re: [TWC] When will they rollout DOCSIS 3.0 in Raleigh NC? I just spoke with National Customer Service in Raleigh - they said that they just received training and that RoadRunner Extreme (15/1) will be offered starting on March 16th.
The rep seemed to believe it. I can only hope! |
|
 | hate to be a debbie downer like i always am. Earthlink already offers 15/1 on TWC's lines here in the triangle. I'm hoping that wideband launches on this date and not just this 15/1 tier. |

However, either would be a major improvement !!! |
|
 | reply to jfalek Semantics perhaps, but Extreme is 30/5, WideBand is 50/5. When those rollout then Earthlink Max (& RoadRunner Turbo) should become 15/1 and BroadBand Std should become 10/1.
Still hearing that these increases will be in some nodes within the Raleigh Area until late March. |
|
 | I heard on a talk show twc is waiting for the upgrades to be completed in Fayetteville before the speed increases kick in(late March from what they said). I am in Durham so I don't have a clue about my service. Maybe I should move back to Raleigh. |

 | reply to Lenard So i just got my signature at home installed. Got a DDW3611 modem The downstream shows bonded. Upload speeds still suck though.
Question though...
In the modem under Operation Config
My primary downstream service flow shows this: Max Traffic Rate : 10240000 bps Max Traffic Burst : 10000000 bytes Max Concatenated Burst : 1522 bytes
The upstream service flow shows this: Max Traffic Rate : 512000 bps Max Traffic Burst : 3044 bytes Max Concatenated Burst : 3044 bytes
Wouldn't this mean I should be getting the 10/512 turbo service still?

 | I get even better from them. It starts around 90 Mb/s then drops down. Upload is still crap though.
I'm in North Raleigh close to Crabtree. |

Lenard join:2006-01-12 Raleigh, NC | Something seriously wrong with upload. Show them this picture when they come to fix it. Most likely a config error in their computer. |
|
 | I don't think there is anything wrong. I just don't think I am on DOCSIS 3.0 yet. I think that I am still getting RR turbo but that the "burst" is basically uncapped. Because if I download something it will jump really high to begin with and then level back off to around 10 Mb/s. My modem is bonded on the downstream so hopefully it is soon that they roll it out. |

 | Hey guys, Got this in my @RR.com email today. I'm in Youngsville, NC (Wake Forest area)
"Dear Customer,
Over the next several days, Time Warner Cable will be upgrading its Digital Home Phone and High Speed Internet delivery systems. We're excited to say that this upgrade will enable us to offer even faster Internet speeds and improved reliability in the future. Look for more information on new speed offerings soon.
All necessary work will be performed at night between midnight and 6 am in order to minimize the potential for service interruptions. During this time you may experience a brief loss of Road Runner High Speed Online and/or Digital Home Phone service. Once the upgrade is complete, your service should be operating normally."
Could be getting close! |

If something was "seriously wrong" I would expect much lower. |

 | reply to RR Poster OMG I hope it also includes Raleigh but I checked my rr email and nada, then again we recently moved around a week ago so dunno if that has anything to do with a delay in updating the account status. |

 | reply to Lenard I just got the email today about the upgrade in the Triad area. About time!
"Provides download speeds up to 50 Mbps thats 5 times faster than our Turbo speed Powertask allows for multiple users to enjoy maximum productivity at the same time Free Internet Security Suite, including Parental Controls and Anti-Virus software 24/7 live customer service
Wideband is coming to High Point this spring and to other areas of the Triad later this year. Five times the speed of Road Runner Turbo claim is based on Road Runner Turbos standard maximum download speed of 10 Mbps versus Wideband Internets maximum download speed of 50 Mbps. Download speeds dependant on computer and network connection. Actual speeds may vary. Security software is not available for Macintosh® computers. Time Warner Cable and its affiliates and suppliers reserve the right to discontinue any product, feature or offer at any time." |

 | wow.. what does wideband in the triad have to do with raleigh? |
|
 | reply to Lenard This was found on TWC website dated yesterday for those in the Triad area. I know that Uverse is coming to my neighborhood soon. I have had AT&T techs in my yard because the local node is in my backyard. I guess that TWC is going to try to counter it. I will just wait to see who has the lower prices and let them price battle it out.
TIME WARNER CABLE TO LAUNCH ULTRA-FAST WIDEBAND INTERNET ACROSS THE TRIAD
Release Date:03/07/2011
Greensboro, N.C. (March 7, 2011) Time Warner Cable announced plans to launch Time Warner Cable Wideband Internet for both residential and business customers across the Triad area, with High Point customers being among the first in the Triad to receive this enhanced Internet offering.
“Time Warner Cable’s Wideband Internet is our most powerful Internet product for customers and will more than triple current internet speeds,” said Dianne Blackwood, area vice president of operations, Greensboro. “Time Warner Cable is committed to delivering products that meet the high-speed data needs of our business customers and our residential customers who want the fastest speeds at home for their computers, smartphones and game consoles.”
Wideband Internet will be available to High Point customers by spring, with other Triad cities receiving the service later this year. The next generation of Internet technology produces speeds of up to 50 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream.
“Customers can leverage this new technology to enhance the speed of multi-device connectivity,” added Blackwood. “For example, a multi-user customer could download files, stream a TV show and upload photos within seconds on different devices at the same time. We are empowering our customers with pure online power to save time and boost productivity when multitasking with multiple devices.”
Wideband Internet will continue to offer customers wireless capability, with convenient mobility throughout the home and the flexibility to utilize up to five devices simultaneously.

 | reply to streetglyden I'm in Wake Forest, NC, but didn't receive any information about the upgrades. What I really need is much bigger pipe for upload. What's the point of having 20, 30 or 50Mbps for download when my upload speed is capped at 512kbps. »www.speedtest.net/result/1191652438.png Because of the over-provisioning of nodes in NC, my QoS has severely deteriorated in the past year. I had VoIP for years, but had to cancel it and pay for good ole' POTS line so I can have a decent phone conversation. I back up all my files from all computers to online backup service, so I constantly have upstream flow, which in turns robs any VoIP services, and it slows down overall download speed due to severe overall latency. I can't wait for Uverse to be deployed in Wake Forest. |

I just thought I'd let people know that TWC is working in NC to deploy docsis 3, if its coming here soon its bound to be in raleigh soon, if not already in some places like I believe I read on here. Theres been a lot of confusion it seems on when it will be deployed, but I'm betting its this year for sure. |

The downloads here have been that way for weeks, I guess its because of work being done for upgrades, at least I hope it is. |

EnzoM3 join:2005-10-28 Raleigh, NC | reply to Lenard I'm in Raleigh just north of Brier Creek.
Talk to them this morning, she checked my address and said I'm not getting the upgrade on this round, but confirmed some areas in Raleigh are getting it this round which is next week. She said the next round of upgrade is in July, there is a chance I may get it then.
On the upside, I lowered my rate to the promotion rate. Not a bad investment for a 10 minute call. |
