[Windsor] Speed Limiting?

Is Cogeco now in the practice of speed limiting or some other retardation? Currently hitting about 450KB/s DL on NNTP where its usually 1.7MB/s.. Normally I am not one to post because I never have an issue, however this seems rather odd.

I can't speak to Windsor, but I'm seeing 1.98MB/s at the moment (queued something just to check). I was seeing 800-900 KB/s earlier today but I just wrote that off to network congestion.

Weird. I can't get more than 500KB/s from speedtests.. Never had this issue.

Not to rub it in, but this is actually faster than I usually get.

Was getting 1.7 MB/s ~ 1.8 MB/s earlier. I'm on business so I can't comment on any practices, but it's almost top speed here.

Ultimate 30, but from an 802.11g only netbook.

Have you called it in?

I should have pointed out that I'm on a business account as well.

I'm pulling 1.7MB/s over NNTP at this very moment on Standard.

Did you change ports? I noticed a while back that I couldn't get more than 500-600KB/s when I pulled NNTP using port 1720, but that was a few years ago and since then I've only used standard ports.

Interesting. Still at 450-500KB. Rebooted computer, modem, and router.

Hmmm... I'm actually faster than I was last night (faster than I think I've ever seen). Of course I know my neighbours (I think) and the only guy who might be using high bandwith is an ex-Bell employee so he's not on my line.

Maxxed out at 510KB/s tonight... Any Cogeco employees want a crack at this?

Just to be sure, you've hooked up directly to the modem, right? I know it's common sense for you, but there's been times I've been so confident and arrogant in my hardware that I skipped the necessary steps.

No changes should have been made over the holidays and the week leading up to it. Most people are on vacation i think for the holidays so you might not get anything until next week. Feel free to PM me your info and ill look when i get back.

I'm experiencing a similar problem here in Petawawa, ON. I noticed it after I got back from Holidays (was gone from Dec 20th to Jan 1st).

Usually pingtest.net gives me A but I'm now getting B's and C's. Furthermore, I'm getting 5-8mb/s when usually I get 12-14mb/s. Downloading from a mirror in Kingston I usually get 16-18mb/s but now I can't seem to get more than 5mb/s.

I'm also seeing a small amount of packet loss.

I called in and they are sending out a technician later this evening.

Sorry for the vague details. Will hopefully be able to share more later.

My issue is unfortunately network saturation. I'm told Cogeco will split the node shortly to resolve the issue.

I usually don't have much of an issue with speed. Around the Christmas/New Year period, it dropped off for a while.

Tonight, it's really bad (on downstream), so I thought I'd ask if anything is being worked on in the area of Partington & Tecumseh.

My current speed:
