How to make new build quieter?

Built a new computer today, phenom x3 8550, with a Biostar A780L motherboard, asus Socket AM2+ aluminum heatsink, and a logisys CS-206BK case with 4802 power supply and fan(included with the case). The computer is quite loud, and I was wondering how I can make it quieter for not that much more money?

Um, buy more quite parts...

for real what is loud... likely the POS psu you got.

Some times you get what you pay for.
A case that cheap with a PS included is not going to have consideration for sound. They built it to house parts and give you power.

You could change out the fans for bearing fans but that won't help with the PS noise. You could try lining the inside with dynamat.

Ball bearing fans are loud they rattle at low RPM, BB fans are for longevity not low noise.

Unless you mean some other bearing fan... cause you know... every fan has some sort of bearing in it.

I guess that depends on the quality and size of the fans. My system is quiet and I have two 220mm ball bearing fans running one on the side and one on top. I also have them mounted with silicone plugs so there is no rattle against the housing.

Well, I listened to the psu, and its not the psu that is making it noisy, its the case fan and the cpu/heatsink. i think I might buy one designed to be quiet. I changed the fan setting to quiet in the bios, and it quieted down about 10%.

Bigger fans at slower speeds == Equivalent cooling at quieter sound volume levels.

Definitely go look at some quiet fans. I think the gentle typhoon is a decent one, but I really don't care how loud my HAF 922 is, so I haven't investigated the matter thoroughly.

Get a fan controller panel too along with the bigger fans if there isn't already some kind of speed controllers on each fan.

A free solution may be to test out a software product called SpeedFan »www.almico.com/speedfan.php It did wonders to quiet down the fans on my sons PC. It takes a bit of work to get the setup correct, but the difference can be amazing. The fans can be slowed way down when the system/cpu are cool and the speeds will only increase as things warm up. (Note that if your noisy case fan is connected directly to the power supply, then you can't control the speed. Speedfan only controls fans that are connected to the motherboard).

I don't have any fans connected to my motherboard, just my PSU. :P

That would explain why they're so loud. They're running at 100% speed all the time.
