| [Info] Hotwire Communications - GPON FTTP: New Sub FAQ - 12/30/1 Two months ago my neighborhood signed a contract with Hotwire Communications to provide GPON FTTP to all residents. The deal we signed is for 10yrs and includes basic IPTV, HBO, and showtime. More importantly it also includes up to 20/5 Mbps for every home. They've also subsidized VOIP service on a sliding scale starting free for the first year and at reduced rates for the following three.
I spoke to a very kind and decently well informed representative today who answered a few of my questions. We will also be speaking on Monday so that he provide answers to a few more specific questions I had. Since there is little information on HC available I thought it be best to post what I got. I hope that this may both start communications with current subs as well as provide info for potential ones too.
Our external ONT was installed two weeks ago and our home installation is scheduled for 01/04/11. I'll be sure to post pictures of the ONT and other hardware soon.

General
• Utilizes a Motorola GPON infrastructure
• Utilizes an external ONT.
• No gateway device (pending further questioning)
IPTV
• Current HD DVR is ADB-5810 (C/S/T)WX HD (HDD GB pending)
• Current SD STB is ADB-3800/10 (C/S/T)W HD
• HD video stream at 20Mbps
• SD video streams at 15Mpbs
• Will run CAT5 in-wall for each install STB
• Multi-room DVR is currently not available but is coming as well as new STBs (manufacturer unknown)
HSI
• Tiers(Mbps): 20/5 | 50/10 | 100/20 (YMMV)
• There is no HSI bandwidth cap
• There is no QoS or packet shaping
• Home servers are allowed but ports are blocked (specifics pending)
