Problems Using a dynamic dns with SMC 8014N

My ISP provider replaced their Motorola Modem and my Linksys Wireless Router with the SMC 8014N. I use my desktop computer as a host machine that I access using WIndows XP Remote Desktop connection. I have successfully used my Dynamic DNS name when connecting remotely through either the Internet or my home network (INTRANET). I can no longer do that with the SMC Gateway. When trying to access my desktop from a laptop within my home network I have to use the actual IP Address of my Desktop computer to connect. Using my Dynamic DNS doesn't work. However when I try to access my desktop from outside my home network the Dynamic DNS works fine. As a matter of fact when I try to access any remote computer from my home network using a dynamic dns it doesn't work. Can anyone explain why?
