I know of no other tablet running a Core i5 and Windows 7. Most others are Atom based. |

| Agreed. But that's an awful lot (of horsepower and cash) to throw at a tablet. What do you need an i5 for in a tablet? This thing costs four digits when every other tablet is around $500. I don't really see the need. Then again, I don't get the whole tablet thing in the first place.
Now put an i3 in my Droid X, then we're talking. -- Will WWIII start today? |

OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 | Oh, I thought you meant Rip-off of another device with a similar design and spec. Your referring to price. Yeah, its the form factor that is likely driving the price. The smaller you go the more expensive things can get. Make it powerful too and you're really going to have to pay.
The HP Slate 500 Tablet PC cost a bracing,
..wait for it,
wait for it,
$799.00 and its spec are as follows:
Atom Processor Z540 (1.86 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB) 8.9" diagonal touchscreen WSVGA 1024 x 600 or 1024 x 768 SSD up to 64 GB 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Integrated 3 MP camera (outward facing); Integrated VGA webcam (inward facing) Windows 7 Professional 32 FreeDOS 9.21 x 0.58 x 5.91 in (23.40 x 1.47 x 15.00 cm)
And so on,

The attraction here with the ASUS Eee I guess is something small, functional and powerful without the restrictions of something like the iPad. |

Ouch,
. Tell me about it. The fully decked out models we use cost close to $4k. The handle is because the barcode reader is on the side of the device. |

OctaveanPremium,MVM join:2001-03-31 New York, NY kudos:1 | reply to Octavean Has anyone here bought one of these ASUS Eee Slate EP121 units? I bought one and just got it today. I like it and it is responsive (quad cores are shown) but the WEI seems a bit low. |
