Barrie-Tek Savvy intenet disconnects-speed yoyo $87 charge

I am a customer with tekSavvy. The Service and Support has always been good in the past. Usually no problem with them…until lately. I was having problems with internet speeds going up and down like a yo-yo in September/October 2010. I called their customer service; after doing line tests and ping tests that showed good results one minute and after retesting later showed bad results; and complained that there was a problem. They said that I should check my router and also my modem. I bought a NEW modem and NEW router…they weren’t cheap. The problem was still present. This went on for 2 months, until I called Tek Savvy and they too tested the line and told me it was bad. Bell Canada was called out….they never entered the house. Whatever they did fixed the problem….never had the same issue. Got a call last night from the ‘escalations’ department telling me that I was being billed a “DMC” charge by Bell Canada of app $87. Speak about gouging. Bell came out, problem disappeared….they must have done something, it must have been an external problem since they never entered the house.

I did not receive a refund or credit for the poor internet for 2 months and now I get charged $87 which Tek Savvy customer service says they cannot reverse and cannot do anything about…even after I mentioned that I may look for an alternate home phone and internet provider and then cancel my services with Tek Savvy.

Perhaps things are different in Canada then the US but if I understand correctly you are not a Bell Canada customer, you are a Tek Savvy DSL customer. If thing works the same as US Tek Savvy rents copper circuit from Telco to deliver DSL. I would think they are the ones that should pay the bill.
