SBG6580 leaks RF

FYI, the SBG6580 leaks radio frequency signals.

For 7 months I was using a Motorola SB5100, with it placed on my desktop next to the receiver of a wireless mouse (Logitech MX700). No problems. In recent days, though, the mouse has been acting erratically, with intermittent choppy pointer movement and button presses or releases not being recognized.

I realized last night what is different: 5 days ago Time-Warner replaced my SB5100 with a SBG6580 when I upgraded to the Extreme tier. After the TW tech left I disabled the unneeded wireless capability in the router's config:

Wireless --> Primary Network: Disabled

The tech simply removed the SB5100 from my desktop and put the SBG6580 in its place. Last night I moved the router off my desk and onto the floor, using my tower-model computer as a wall between the router and the desk.

This fixed my mis-behaving wireless mouse. Pointer movement is back to being smooth, and button actions are always recognized.

I don't know if it's relevant but the SBG6580 is currently using software SBG6580-3.2.1.0-GA-06-007-NOSH. In any case the SBG6580 as configured does not play well with my RF mouse despite having disabled wireless networking.

Maybe disabling wireless networking doesn't actually power-down the radio in the SBG6580?
