| Anyone else considering switching? I have been with Vonage and prior to that I had Lingo right after the Sunrocket (launched into thin air) disappeared one day.
But my 12 month contract is about to expire and I am thinking of switching since I am paying $35 on average every month after taxes and fees (no extra charged calls) on $25.99 Vonage World Plan. The fees are getting to be a deal killer, totalling $9.86.
Vonage World Plan for 1-(XXX)-XXX-XXXX (15/Jan-14/Feb) $25.99 Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee $1.99 Emergency 911 and Information Services Fee $1.99 Taxes & Fees Federal Program Fee $2.91 Sales Tax $1.97 State E911 Fee $1.00 Total Amount $35.85
I would love to hear from anyone who has recently switched from Vonage to a better, reliable and cheaper VOIP service with similar world calling plans. One that I can think of is allvoi(»www.allvoi.com) |

| No experience with that provider, but I suggest you re-post over at the voip tech forum: »VOIP Tech Chat
Also post your usage profile: General minutes of calls, which countries you call, would you consider a lower rate for pay as you go, would you consider buying and using your own phone adapter, that sort of thing. Good luck.
BTW, I switched out of Vonage a few years ago, went with Future-Nine and am now with Callcentric. |

1 edit | reply to hatfieldfios just call into vonage and bit*h at the pricing and tell them that you want to cancel the service then they will try to offer you a different price so they can keep you as a customer just tell them you want 12.50 unlimited plan but you have to talk to a account manager not a regular cs rep because I called in there and bit*hed about the pricing and I got to spoke to a account manager and they was able to lower my plan to 12.50 unlimited plan.
If you dont want to piss around with it I would check out voipo.com for 8.25 per month for calling.
I used to pay 30-35 dollars on the old vonage plan and now with my 12.50 plan I only pay 19.80 a month for a year. |

I have been a Vonage customer 8 years (march 2003).
Over the years there have been a couple bumps in the road - mopst attributed to my home network/router. Other than that I can say its been trouble free - how many other alternative carriers can say that?
I would not consider switching to anything - UNLESS they could offer me seamless home/mobile VOIP with the same quality, reliability and features I currently enjoy with Vonage. -- Nothin' left to do but smile smile smile |

| @dellsweig: I had Lingo for 2 years and has DSL and FIOS each year and Lingo service was very stable(reliability), great call quality and features that I needed including international calling and had no issues at all. But I decided to switch to Vonage since their $14.99/6months promo was attractive and cheap but with taxes and fees its becoming more expensive than Lingo. Also ALLVOI (»www.allvoi.com) has a $17.99/month plan which includes international calling and meets my needs. So if noting else turns up in my search for VOIP provider, it might be ALLVOI.
Any ALLVOI'ers here with any experience from either their current service or from past? |

| reply to hatfieldfios I was with vonage since the start, Customer 73 I think. I'm now with Nettalk. Its a pretty good service and I haven't had a outage yet. Plus they have their own Vid call software which is nice if you have someone on the other end thats net talk as well. You can take it with you actually, run it off your PC or plug it in any eithernet port. The unit it self is small. Anyway that's where I am these days.

| @ youngmoore I am actually thinking about Nettalk because of its ability to plug it in my routers ethernet port. I am glad to hear from a Nettalk'er that its a pretty good service without any outages(yet). Also Nettalk offers software for use with iPhone as well as softphone.
I may park my number somwhere or port my vonage number to something cheap and forward it to Nettalk number. |

| reply to dellsweig I have been using ALLVOI from almost past one year.. till today they are reliable and sound quality is very good for the calls in US but international call are of not that great quality...but then its OK. if you choose $17.99 plan you will be paying approx $24-$25per month inclusive of all fees. Also their unlimited plan looks to be truly unlimited as I have used upto 3000 min. few times and never got any warning as I heard about Vonage. One more positive thing is their all support staff is located in US and wait time is generally 2-3 min. Having said all that I am switching from ALLVOI to callwithus for different reasons... Aks |

 | reply to hatfieldfios I just signed up with Vonage a week or so ago. So far loving it especially since NetFixer went WAY out his way to help me set up adapter behind router with a static IP address. For some reason I couldn't get it right and I always thought I was pretty good at networking things, but the newer VDV-22 adapter I got just didn't want to cooperate!!
Compared to what a regular phone company charges JUST for phone service, I'm not going to complain about a $35.85 phone bill at all.
I won't be switching anytime soon, as far as I can tell. -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ |

| reply to hatfieldfios Customer 158 here... (talk about a long time...) I am somewhat tempted to switch based on the dishonest practice of mixing fees with taxes (just like the big telco's)... Hmmmm, I'm March of '03... but I'm not seeing anything that would resemble a numerical value of this sort in my acct. number. It's 10 digits, with the 1st three being 100, but the others are just numbers. It would be interesting, though, to find out... -- 1/20/09 = The final day of our Retarded Cowboy President! |

toy4x4 join:2001-06-26 Jenks, OK | reply to hatfieldfios I have been with Vonage since 2004. It is my work line and they don'e pay for it. So I am switching to Google Talk for the rest of 2011 and will decide what to do after that.
I see no difference quality wise with Google talk versus Vonage. Add in the Google Voice number i have and I'm good to go. |
