I am SOOOOO NOT looking forward to this cold snap. It is expected to hit -10 here Sunday and Monday night.
That means, I will have to leave my bathroom sink faucet running, or it will freeze. AND, I will have to switch to my back up hot air furnace because my current main heat from a "Monitor heater" won't be able to keep up. |

That would be me answering Motel Not-So-Quite-Happy's alarms, JUST BECAUSE I'm the closest person that was stupid enough to get "The Call". Fortunately I made sure the pipes were blown clear and I get paid for this nonsense.

I reached -11 that night. The coldest I remember in a long time.
BUT!!!!!!!!!
I also still have water If it wasn't for the snow, my home water would be frozen solid. Under so called "normal" winters, I'd be frozen solid. But all this snow is acting as insulation. |

DARPA just did a study on how to improve body temps in cold and heat. Believe it or not the chemical hand warming pads you buy almost anywhere raise your core temp while keeping your hand warm making you feel better and more comfortable in cold weather.
The same holds true for hot days using cold packs for your hands.
