 | Thinking about downgrade from FIOS Currently on the Verizon FIOS plan of 15/5 for which we pay $55, but wife says we start saving money. Earthlink available in my area of $30 for 7/1. We generally watch a movie a week via netflix and that's it. Can't think of a major downside but may be missing something??? |

|
 | It will be Time Warner in this area. |

| So where is "this area"? Or in other words, where is TWC offering 7 down 1 up? It's been 384k up for over a decade around here. (and almost all of NC, in fact.)
And $30 is a promo rate -- 6 months? And then it will go back to close to $50. The current rate for RR is around $57/mo. |
|
 | Area is next to Dallas in Plano, TX.
Your prob right, went back to website to dbl check up-speed and can't see it specified.
It does show $30/promo x 6 mo's then goes up to $42 thereafter - so not much savings after 6 mo's. |

1 edit | reply to lm75093 We have a 7000/512 with EL via TW. (Much of TW in USA is 7000/384 std.) We use the service similar to you with no downside and we are satisfied.
Additional note: a couple of years ago I read that some areas of Texas (where TW was providing service) were subject to unusually low usage caps. Don't know if that was a trial or actually in the TOS. |

 | Thanks Rojo.
We can save about $225 the first year by switching over to Earthlink from Verizon. I'm going to call Verizon next week and see if they will negotiate price down. If not, then i'll have to serisly think about switching over. |
