I just upgraded to a Motorola Surfboard eXtreme modem this evening and now when I try to start a Smokeping test I get the following:
Warning: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is not pingable from www.dslreports.com with 1024 byte packets. If you go ahead, the test will merely show traceroute information.
I did not have any problems running a smokeping with my SB5120. Can someone please tell me why DSLReports cannot ping my SB6120?
reply to tpierpoint LQT does not work either. I've always had a router and it worked fine before I upgraded. It appears to be an issue with 1024 byte packets according to the warning message. I know it's pingable because I pinged it from an external source.
reply to tpierpoint Also, a friend upgraded to a SB6120 and has the same problem. Are some of the DSLReports not compatible with SB6120's or perhaps DOCSIS 3.0 modems?

I read that this is an issue with the SB6120 and how it communicates with the CMTS. The CMTS may not recognize the correct DOCSIS state of the MODEM. After a while, it sorts things out and works fine. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra
