Nowak's article is SUPOIB as usual.

The Gazette/FP piece is good, but has one info error : CRTC'S original UBB decision was EARLY last year, not LATE.

Geist's comprehensive multi-linked article says that it's not ALL bad, and he may well have a point there, the way he explained it.

It World's was decent too, though shorter, and concentrated more on CNOC's position and its complaints to CRTC.

Re: Globe & Other 2011-44 (UBB) articles

Karl from DSLR has published a followup article where he compares the new and the revised service plans which TSI and eBox have just announced, to each other and to those of the incumbent providers such as Bell, and notes that there might be some competition restarting after all, up here in the 'Great White North'.

I read something a day or two ago on Bell's site, in Residential Internet in the fine print, IIRC, about paper statements costing $2.

Bell replies to the CRTC about the above app, as requested to do by the CRTC.

»/r0/do ··· 0ABR.zip

There are many #####s, few hard facts for us (the public) to read, and few references to the CNOC app doc, from that huge legal department.

OTOH, JF's doc had more substance than Bell's, more constructive suggestions about the problems at hand, and of course, no #####s.

CRTC Page for CNOC Part 1 Application stuff

said by jfmezei:

I think this will start to get populated this Thursday (or appear there on Friday) when the first comments on what immediate actions the CRTC needs to take for Feb 1.

A good CBC article on Roger's throttling issue with CRTC.

CRTC could order Rogers to refund customers a certain amount.

Also, it was disclosed that they worked with Cisco to investigate Roger's implementation. Not sure if this is actually true, or an interpretation by the reporter.

Cisco can't be too happy to be blamed for this entire screwup, when they released the hotfix for their standard DPI systems that fixed this exact issue back in December 2010...

This is all Rogers' specialization that they wanted put in their DPI rules.
