Here it says they're using 96 strand cable. Perhaps they mean $1000 per strand mile. At $96,000 per mile that would be too expensive from what I've read though.

I looked for prices for just the cable and the cheapest I found for 96 strand was about $3,000 for 1000 feet. That would be about $15,000 per mile just for the cable. |
