Is the 'Latency to Server' round trip time or halved?

Hi,

Can someone tell me about the results in dslreports.com flash based speed test if the reported 'Latency to Server' figure is round trip time or has it been halved or measured as the latency from the client to the server? I am guess it is round trip time, but I want to verify this with someone who knows for sure. Also, would you know if the test uses ping if round trip time is the answer?

Thanks,
Ryder.

It looks like to me that it is from you to the host. One way. The test to NY shows a latency of 40ms. A ping test gives me 79ms.

I see. Thanks, but how do figure out the IP address of the speed test server?

I tried opening wireshark, but I do not believe that I see the correct IP of the test server. It does give me of an IP address (98.136.48.215), which appear to be located in the Bay Area regardless of whichever server I choose.

Thanks I Shark!
