[Cable] aol won't let me do anything but aol!

My aol software is driving me crazy. It will not let me do anything except aol. It brings me back to the aol page all the time. I have uninstalled it and redownloaded and reinstalled it but I get the same thing all the time. Now I have it uninstalled but I get an aol sign on via the internet explorer. It just keeps popping up. How do I fix it or get rid of it completely? Thanks...
