Donald Trump imminently leaving the U.S.

He said he'll make an announcement in June. He says the country is a laughing stalk. If this happens will it reverberate through the stock market, or will it be no big deal at all?

Why doesn't he stay and run for president in 2012 and fix it himself? Maybe he thinks we're too far gone?

Does the government not know that the country is a laughing stock in the business sector? Or do they not care? Does this prove the new world order conspiracy is true?

Trump made the comment, almost a year ago, in response to speculation that the Obama administration planned to balance the budget, by increasing taxes on the rich. His point was that a mass exodus of money from the US would follow and make the country the laughing stock of the financial world.

It's funny, we want all their money, but then get pissed when they try to take it some place else.

I personally wouldn't vote for him. He can leave the country.

I don't care for the man personnally but he is right, we are idiots and doing a fine job of ruining this country.

Here is a good read on his thinking and possible run for President.

good then we won't have to deal with yet another bankruptcy from this idiot who loses more money then he makes

he's just one big ponzi...he makes millions while every business he touches goes bankrupt. somehow his personal fortune always stays out of bankruptcy agreements.

If the economy is that dependent on one egomaniacal buffoon, then we're already screwed.

We're already screwed, but it isn't The Donald's fault. He may be ego-maniacal, but he has definitely figured out how to beat the system.

Yeah by declaring bankruptcy multiple times with his company while growing his personal wealth.

Exactly the reason I don't care for him personally, but he understands business and realizes we need to run the country as a business.

Just my $0.02 as a detached foreign observer here, but that wingnut's views on foreign trade and policy would drag the USA into international conflicts that would make Iraq and Afghanistan look like two baby birds fighting over a worm.

If you think Iraq was expensive just wait until he drags you into a trade war with China or a nuclear conflict with OPEC. Just like Dubya, Trump is all mouth and no brain.

Sorry !! The man definitely has a BRAIN. Maybe no morals but he knows what he is doing and has the $$$$$$$$$$ to prove it.

@look.ca

Sorry to be mocking your boyhood hero, but if he ever gets elected president I guarantee you within 6 months he'll be sharing a hotel room in Dubai with Mubarak cause he would run America into the ground like one of his MANY MANY bankrupt companies

He can join the rest of those that said they are leaving the US IF: [enter reason]. Some of these things happen years ago and NONE have them have gone anywhere yet.

Remember, he was the guy that had "too much debt to go bankrupt" years ago.

Why do we 'need' to run the country as a business?

What exactly does that mean, in any case? Should we fire a few million citizens because we'd be more profitable if we downsized? Perhaps we can divest ourselves of divisions that post huge losses? Maybe we could outsource defence to India?

What happens to businesses that run in the red year after year? Eventually they cannot borrow any more money and declare bankruptcy. When that happens there will be no more Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, foodstamps etc etc.

So what? The USA is not a business, it's a country. You have failed to explain what running a country 'as a business' actually means.

I gather you want to stop paying money to some people, presumably by some sort of analogy with reducing payroll costs. Fine. Now what? Will you let them die in the streets?

Furthermore, a business is essentially there to make money for its owners by using the labour of its employees. Having a country operate that way sounds a little like the Egypt of yesteryear. Perhaps that wasn't what you meant by 'running a country as a business' either?

So what do you mean? It's a nice sound-bite but it seems like it's without content.
