[Embarq] Minnesota customers?Anyone have Embarq in the Maple Grove area? Curious as to how it performs, specifically for gaming. |

Odd that you have centurylink in that area (thought it was mostly qwest and comcast in that area).
While I can't say what it's like in the cities my parents have it in granite falls mn (2 hours away from the cities) and since the merger they are getting around 800kbps down. They were getting 3mbps before the merger however they are still paying for 3 and getting crap service. If you have a cable provider I'd suggest to go with them (as centurylink currently sucks) |

I live in Maple Grove near Weaver Lake and have Centurylink. No gaming issues at all. Line Quality tests are great. No lag's. We have 10mb speed and always get around 9.5+ on speed tests. |

I live in Maple Grove near Weaver Lake and my connection is horrible - I think we are 3mb and lucky to get 1 if less - the connection is faulty... I beleive they have hardware switching issues - I am switching to comcast because I have no other choice. |

The Embarq customer phone support has an IVR script announcing that DSL service for Minnesota is experiencing wide-spread problems, and there is no point in reporting it. A chat support person told me yesterday, "...there are two outages affecting the service at this point...At this point, I see an estimate for one of the outages to be fixed within 24 hours...The second outage is a bit more sensitive, it will be fixed estimated by 3/1/2011."
This is incredibly lousy quality-of-service! Good luck conducting the business of your life. We should be marching on their headquarters like they did in Egypt. |

Service has been down since Friday in Rogers. You can reset the modem and get the internet for about 15minutes. Then it goes away. Customer service recorded message about MN outages is too vague. If the fix is 24 hours or 3/1? That's a bit too much wiggle room. I'll be looking for a credit on my account. |

We have been down in Maple Grove since Friday afternoon. Same old story, DNS server failure, now I am being told they will be up sometime by tomorrow (Tuesday) night. This is the longest outage I have experienced with them. Before this service has been good. Hope they don't make a habit of this. |

OpenDNS fixed it. Thanks for the tip |

Yep - The techs that you speak with are literally told not to hardcode OpenDNS or they may get in trouble. They know what's going on, but CTL isn't allowing them to actually fix it. |

I have had 10m service in MG near Rice Lake for about 9 months and am happy with it. My speedtests run about 9.5. I have "Pure" broadband as they call it (no phone service). There has only been 1 outage that I noticed -- it lasted a few hours. Customer service leaves something to be desired (fortunately, I only needed to talk to them once). |
