HTTPS for IM's

I briefly read on the discussion on not adding full support for HTTPS on the whole site (I agree on that) but Should DSLR add support for HTTPS in the IM's / The Direct Forums?
People there share there account numbers and other personal info which to me should be secured.

It looks as if "https://secure.dslreports.com/instant" actually works, though I don't know whether officially supported.

I tried to send you a message over hxxps://secure.dslreports.com/instant

(replace xx with tt)

Did you get it?

If so, what did you mean by

Yes, that worked and I replied to it.

When I said that I didn't know whether officially supported, I was pointing out that it doesn't seem to be announced anywhere. I am not a spokesman for dslreports, and I have no way of knowing the site plans for secure connections.

I did happen to notice, a few weeks ago, that if I login at the secure login page, then I am taken to a secure forum page. I'm not sure whether that's intended or a mistake. My guess is that as long as only relative links are used, you will stay behind a secure connection. However, if at a direct forum, the links there to other forums probably take you to non-secure connections.

For me, it doesn't much matter. There's nothing in my IMs that anybody would want to be sniffing out.

On every site @ least the admin can read your Pms and they really have a right since its thier site to see whats being discussed behind their backs..... (Most site staff wont admit it though)

justin See Profile and nil See Profile can actually dig through the database to find instant messages if they ever want to find one. No one else can see them in any way (except their own of course). It's been asked and answered before.
