dogmaXYZPremium join:2002-08-15 Boulder City, NV kudos:1 | Inflation trending up for basics such as food, clothing, gas Because I was incredulous yesterday when I saw 1Lb of ground beef (grass feed/no steroids) for $7.01/lb. at the local supermarket.
$7/lb for Hamburger??
By summer, 3-5% increase for food, 10% increase for clothing, 20% for gas:

| reply to dogma I would say go for it.
I'll try to repeat what I saw on the news last thanksgiving.
"Because feed farmers think it's a good idea to grow corn and turn it into fuel, feed prices are going up. What that means is the cost is passed onto the consumer."
So yes, food prices are going to get higher, because Farmers, like any business want to make money. Currently corn is the cash crop. -- To All Real Dads. For All Real Moms Every Real Service. | | lolwhatYou're getting warmerPremium join:2001-06-11 PonziWorld Reviews:

| reply to dogma B-b-but the government said core CPI is staying fairly flat! Of course, according to Wikipedia, "[Core inflation] excludes certain items that face volatile price movements, notably food and energy." That's OK, though, because no one consumes much food or energy, directly or indirectly. Right? After all, it isn't like the average poor person's paltry budget consists mostly of getting to work and buying food. I'm sure they won't riot if you push those costs too high.
Oh, and these articles aren't highlighting the fact that the one-two punch of ZIRP and QE is causing massive speculation in commodities worldwide - which, in turn, plays a major role in such little things as... wait for it... riots in Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria... Think that won't happen here? You've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?
By the way, the Great and Powerful Bernanke is constantly asking himself that question. The Fed is directly responsible for both QE and ZIRP - and, thus, indirectly responsible for a fair portion of civil unrest in the world. Congress and our Dear Leader are also responsible for reappointing BenDover to his ivory tower. And in case you think I'm being partisan, I don't give a damn what team you're allegedly on if you're fucking with the futures of billions. -- Tutto nelle banche, niente al di fuori delle banche, nulla contro le banche | | horsemouthPlease Clarify My CSPPremium join:2002-03-13 canada | Suck it up buttercup.
