qwest actiontec q1000 wireless isolation mode default?I was helping my brother in law and his girlfriend setup their qwest provided actiontec q1000 modem/router and network printer and I noticed that the wireless clients on the q1000 were unable to connect to the printer. Couldn't ping it, or anything else. This led to further investigation and it appears that the wireless clients were unable to ping anything on the network except for the router itself.
Does anyone know if the Q1000 is in wireless isolation mode by default and how to turn it off if so? I looked through all the menus and couldn't find anything that fit that.
Currently we just disabled the wireless on it, and I plugged in a Linksys E1000 wireless router acting as a simple wireless access point, but it'd be nice to be able to just get rid of it since the Q1000 otherwise does everything they want. |

The Q1000 should work just fine between wired and wireless devices. I have a wired print server that works for both wired and wireless devices. We need more information. What was changed from the default settings on the Q1000? |

About the only thing we changed was the ssid and the wpa2 key and the wireless mode. Switched it to g/n only.
DHCP server was switched only throw out addresses between 100-199.
That's about it. |

Well this is just a guess. The Q1000 default ip address is 192.168.0.1. The Linksys E1000 default ip address is 192.168.1.1. Sounds like the printer was not set for dhcp and may have been statically set for the wrong subnet. |

Nope. that's not it. The printer is set up for a static on the same subnet as the Q1000's DHCP server.
The E1000's ip address (which is irrelevant since it's not being used other than to configure it) was set up on as a static on the same subnet and the dhcp server on it was disabled).
The wireless clients obtain an address via DHCP from the Q1000.
With the E1000, the printer is still connected to the Q1000. |

Yep, now I understand why you think there is something going on with the wireless. Maybe someone else has run across this before because it sure doesn't make sense to me. |

Hello dopey26, I think you have the solution. If I recall, you would have to have a static IP and port forwarding to ping this outside the LAN. You can always email us at Talktous@qwest.com or call tech support 24/7 at 888-777-9569 and they should be able to assist you. Regards Steve Q-TalkToUs www.socialmedia.qwest.com |

I'm not trying to talk outside the LAN.
I'm trying to allow wireless devices connected to the Q1000 to talk to other devices on the LAN. |
