Re: If you could add a product, feature or make a change... Returning the TA is easy. Just take it to a lobby location. It should NOT have any effect on pairing. You don't need it why pay for it |
|
 | Well, it was free for the first year. In the next month or so, I expect to see the charge for the TA's on my bill.
It was my understanding that the TA's were paired to the CableCARD or to the CableCARD host. Are you certain that it won't get messed up? -- Brian Reynolds, Melbourne, Florida |

BHNtechXpertBHN StaffPremium,VIP join:2006-02-16 Saint Petersburg, FL kudos:79 | reply to BHNtechXpert Cable cards are paired to their host component not TA's. It's as simple as removing it. Proof...you haven't been using it in how long and everything is working fine right? No worries... |
|
 | OK, thanks for the info. I thought it was paired somehow because I remember the guy explaining to the person on the phone how to link both TA's to my account. The person on the phone didn't seem to understand that a single CableCARD could have more than one TA.
So, back to one of my other questions... why is it that so many CableCARD's that get sent to a customer's house to be installed in consumer equipment are bad? The tech brought 5 of them, and told me that he often gets bad ones. -- Brian Reynolds, Melbourne, Florida |
|
BHNtechXpertBHN StaffPremium,VIP join:2006-02-16 Saint Petersburg, FL kudos:79 | Can't answer that question. They were likely not bad but improperly inventoried or already assigned to another account. There are multiple systems that must be updated...all it takes is one to hang somewhere along the way and you have an orphaned device and don't even know it. That requires the network folks to fix when that happens. Had the tech used his head he would have called his leadership team and they could have checked on the actual status of the devices. -- ~All truth goes through three phases. First, it is ridiculed. | Makes sense. Seems like BHN could implement a procedure to check the status before the cards get handed to a tech... or to a customer.
I've read many posts from others who had similar problems with "bad" cards... both tech-installed and self-installed. In cases where the tech only brought one card, it required multiple truck rolls (more time off work for the customer)... and in self-install cases, it required multiple trips to the local store. In both cases, this adds a lot of frustration for the customer.
In just about every thread out there about installing an OCUR into a PC, where the person is asking about how difficult it is to install one... the answer is almost unanimous that the most difficult part will be working with the customer's cable company to get it setup correctly. The actual install into a PC is as simple as plugging in the tuner, and installing the drivers... just like any other hardware installed on a PC.
So... I guess that's a change I would make as CEO... implement a procedure where all CableCARD's get checked before being sent to a customer's house. -- Brian Reynolds, Melbourne, Florida |

anamer join:2011-11-03 Tampa, FL | reply to BHNtechXpert Here's one i thought of. Not sure if it has been mentioned yet.
It would be nice if it were possible to "save" what series i have set up to record, maybe using the remote DVR manager on the website.
Whenever i have to have a DVR replaced (for whatever reason) its sometimes a pain to have to go through and set up which series i record.
Maybe being able to setup a DVR profile, that keeps track of what series/shows i have scheduled to record and then when i get a new DVR i can load that profile onto it and it would be all set up to record what i usually record. |

 | Prime example of why the Guide needs a MANUAL Recording feature. Tonight CBS programming is running 45 mins late. Since you can only change the Start time to begin 15 later......and, if you want to record the 9 and 10 PM slots on CBS.....you would need to change the start time of the 10P show before you could change the 9p start time.....or, just select the shows from 9pm to Midnight to get the 2 shows. The Manual recording feature is needed ........ |

| reply to BHNtechXpert I didn't read through all the pages so this probably has been suggested already but I would offer a pick-your-channels package where you only pay for the channels you want. I don't watch the sports channels or the spanish channels, why should I have to pay for a package that includes them just to get channels I do want. It would be like going to Blockbuster to rent a movie and the only way to get the movie you want is to pay for a bundle with 15 other movies. you might watch 2 or 3 of those other ones but most of them will sit there. Is that fair? why should cable be any different?
In a perfect world, everything thing on cable would be an on-demand offering. no channels, no programming schedules, just list of shows to watch whenever I want, day or night. OnDemand is my favorite feature, I wish everything was on it. -- "Corporal...Ready the Canon." "Yes General" "...This one goes out to the one I love." "Yes General." "Canon aimed and ready, General." | reply to BHNtechXpert Gary, make a change... in the BHN app...
I live in a gated community, internet and tv is provided by BH, both in my home and at the clubhouse. BHN even set up the clubhouse with wireless service by the pool and inside the clubhouse. Special sign-in is required, using a specific USERID and PASSWORD.
BHN iPad app works in my house, but as both you and I know, my UserID and P/W for BH Services is tied directly to my home IP Address.
If I go to a friends house, I must the their BH Services UserID and P/W to connect.
Not so with HBO Go it seems. I was able to select BHN as the provider, supply my UserID and P/W and I was in. Could watch HBO on my iPad. I would assume ESPN and Max Go would also.
So, why does BHN's iPad app have to be tied to my Home IP Address?
If nothing else, maybe it should be changed to allow me anytime I'm on BHN's network? Don't know if BHN supplies Orlando's Wireless or not, but if it did it could make waiting for a plane easier. Actually, I don't know why that specific apps is tried down while others are not? I suspect there is a good reason, but I don't know it. Either that or that was the way it was designed?
Feel free to ignore and let this pass. Not a major deal for me, just a 'change' I'd like to see. -- Irv Spalten |

| reply to BHNtechXpert There is no doubt I like my BHN service better than Uverse, but Uverse Parental Controls are light years ahead of BHN. I'm pretty sure I've stated this before in this thread.
What I WAS able to do:
- Lock specific channels. - Hide those channels from displaying on the guide. - Restrict shows by rating (Y, Y7, G, PG, etc).
Although I'm currently able to restrict ratings & lock channels, the ability to HIDE channels is sorely missed.
I liked reducing my guide by 2/3. I hid all SD channels, channels I didn't watch and channels I wasn't subscribed to. Now, when my daughter scrolls thru the channels (I haven't taught her the guide since she is 5 1/2) she see's Animal Planet and wonders why they're talking funny (Spanish)! |

 | reply to BHNtechXpert I'd like it if you offered HBO GO on the XBOX. I've been a brighthouse customer for a number of years, but this is majorly disappointing. I pay you guys for HBO already, why can't I use it on the devices I want? OH because you guys won't make an agreement with Microsoft despite nearly every other competitor doing so. |

Ptyer join:2012-04-01 Orlando, FL | reply to BHNtechXpert I always wanted to be able to set up a recording of a show during a commercial of the show. Such as a coming this fall on Fox a new show that we will cancel prematurely. I see it, I hit the select button for enhanced features and set up a future recording months in advance. Often times I forget about a show and don't realize until 3 episodes in and then I have to pray it is available on demand. I also want, as was mentioned earlier, to be able to hide the adult channels from my 7 year old. |
