Can't get a Verizon 6100F modem to work with AT&T Service

Can someone please help!? I'm attempting to use a Verizon 6100F modem with new AT&T dsl service. We are on a dry-loop and can't get the modem to connect to the internet. Any help will be much appreciated!

You might have to turn off the Verizon walled garden
»Westell Equipment Forum FAQ »How can I deal with the Verizon walled garden?

For most of the AT&T region, you need VCI/VPI to be 0/35. However, if you are in the old BellSouth region, then you could also try 8/35.

I've connected the modem via ethernet to my laptop and pointed it to 192.168.1.1

The VCI/VPI are correctly set at 0/35 for my region and when I attempt to see if it's a walled garden at 192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect.htm it comes up as a code 404/diagnostics and if I try to click on diagnostics nothing happens.

The 404 probably indicates that the walled garden firmware is not on your modem.

I'm not sure what problem you are having. If there's a DSL signal, the modem should at least connect to that, as shown in the DSL light. You will probably have to set PPPoE parameters to get an Internet connection.

How do I go about setting the PPPoE parameters? What do I set them to?

Check with your ISP. If your ISP does not use PPPoE, then you have to change to "routed bridge" setup. If they do use PPPoE, then there's a username and password to set.

Ok, I believe my AT&T service uses PPPoE. I've put in my username and password to no avail. Still isn't connecting. Am I a lost cause here? I'm sorry if I'm wasting your time!!

Eazye, where are you located? We have AT&T forums that might be able to help you but I need to know your location so I can move you to the correct one if you would like me to move you there.

Username might be email address (including the part after the "@").

If you don't know the password, you might have to call in to have it reset. They have separated the PPPoE password from the email password. Those are now two different passwords.
