Why are PhenomII x3 laptops so inexpensive?

I would assume that a PIIx3 would be faster than an Atlhon or Turion with x2 Core Chip with the same specs (15.6" LCD, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, etc) but they seem to be priced lower... Why is that?

How does a PIIx3 compares to an Intel i3 Core? Is there a chart somewhere to do comparisons like on desktop PCs?

Build quality, other features, intended market, supply, etc.? They could all affect the price.

The Phenom II X3 should slot in below the Intel Core i3 and above the old Core 2 Duos.

As for a chart see here:

well actually I was comparing laptops within the same manufacturer... for example the laptop I was looking at was a Toshiba L675-S7049 with a PIIx3, 17.2" LCD, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, HDMI, eSata, even a BlueRay/DVDRW, selling for $598... I couldn't believe it, seemed like a fully equiped machine!

I tried to price it online, and saw that the same L675 model come in many different flavors... but the same exact equiped laptop with a Core i3 costs almost $200 more, so thats where my questionin comes from.

I would've expected to see that big of a jump on a Core i7, but even the Core 2 Duos or Dual Core Txxxx form Intel and Turion/Athlon are more.

I tried other manufaturers and they're pretty much the same pricewise.

On that chart you posted I see that:
PIIx3 has a 3600MHz FSB
Core i3 has a 2500Mhz FSB
and
PIIx3 has a 1.5MB L2
Core i3 has a 3MB L2

So not a big gain from one to the other to justify such a big price difference!
