Re: Ubee DDW3611 Bridge Mode?? Mine are slightly high but at the time it was unavoidable because they did not have the D3 eMTAs out yet so I had to split the only cable in my room again for two modems. Now that they finally got some D3 eMTAs in stock here in my area I will be getting one next friday. I have never seen one but I hear they are extremely huge. |

TWCdude join:2006-04-28 San Antonio, TX kudos:23 | reply to Hatdude As long as the snr levels are 32+ it should be possible to hit the 30M but the power levels where they are at would cause some intermin problems. Also you would need to call in to have a hit sent to your modem to fix the 10M provision there is also a chance you don't have the billing for the extreme on your account. |

1 edit | I'll have to check my bill just to make sure I'm paying for Extreme. I didn't even know I was only provisioned for 10Mbps. Yikes! Do I need to still have a tech come out to check the signals, or can they fix the provisioning over the phone? Maybe if they correct the provision I just might get better speeds.
I appreciate your guys' help here.
ETA: Do I need tier 3 support for that?
ETA2: I just realized, after all getting set up for RR Extreme, I just looked on my bill and it says I'm getting RR Standard w/ Powerboost. What the heck is going on here? |
|
TWCdude join:2006-04-28 San Antonio, TX kudos:23 | Any dept should be able to fix the provisioning, but I would call tech support and have them add it that way you can test it while on the phone. Also keep the tech appt you will need to get those signals fixed |
|
 | They will send a tech to come out tomorrow with the proper equipment and to do the provisioning. The lady at T3 said she didn't want to make any mistakes over the phone therefore sending someone out to make sure everything is properly set up. She said I was set up originally to Extreme but it was dropped the same day I ordered it? (doh) I really don't know what that was all about bit it explains why I'm not getting Extreme speeds ... I never really had it in the first place.
Isn't the Ubee DDW3611 model the correct model for Extreme? I figured they could do the provisioning over the phone but the lady wasn't comfortable with that. And she apologized for the inconvenience and wouldn't charge for the service call.
Hopefully I get things right tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys. |

TWCdude join:2006-04-28 San Antonio, TX kudos:23 | The rep should have been able to add the extreme codes on the spot since you have the right modem for it already. Change orders and service calls are separate things on the system. Either way come tomorrow you should be rocking the new speeds. |

 | reply to MyDogHsFleas said by MyDogHsFleas:re "push a firmware update": is there something specific you need? I believe firmware updates are done automatically when TWC deems it appropriate.
re upstream bonding: this just depends on how you are provisioned on your local network. If they want to bond some upstream channels they can. Is there a problem you're trying to solve or are you just curious about it? Yes, I was asking about firmware updates hoping that newer ones would let you control the WiFi radio power on or off, like every other WiFi router. I have it disabled from the network but from what I can tell, the radio is not really off. Can you say RF "noise pollution"?
Thanks for the info on upstream boding. I just noticed it bonded on up when I first got installed and now does not. Speed seems fine. I'm studying for network + cert so I just like to know. |

 | reply to TWCdude Okay. They came out today and swapped the Ubee with a Motorola SBG6580. All I can say is ... WOW the speeds are LIGHTNING fast!! (3.5 MB/sec down; .6 MB/sec up.) It must have been the configuration from before 'cos I was only getting the RR Standard w/ Powerboost. TW definitely got things right this time and the guy was in and out within 10 minutes. I am definitely one happy customer.
BTW, the Ubee modem looked like a piece of plastic crap compared to the Motorola. The Motorola looks more sturdy and better built. Not that it matters, just thought that was interesting because Motorola typically makes solid products.
I just wanna thank you guys for your help in pointing me in the right direction!! |

TWCdude join:2006-04-28 San Antonio, TX kudos:23 | I am starting to see a docsis 3 mta being installed on new customers in south Texas. The model is dvw3201bcb its just like a 3611 but it supports digital phone it is kind of large its about 9x9x3 in size. There was rumors we are giving out sbg6580s, but I have not seen one yet. |

In the future please state the actual problem you are having (i.e. "my wifi power off isn't working") instead of some other derivative issue (i.e. "how to I get TWC to push a firmware update"). It will help us help you.
That said, I had no problem at all disabling my Ubee WiFi (just changed the setting to "disabled"), and it is really really not on, according to inSSIDer. It shows up nowhere on the spectrum.
What makes you think the radio is still on? |

 | reply to Hatdude BTW, I was able to successfully setup the Motorola into bridge mode with my Linksys. Now my Motorola is acting like it should ... a modem only whilst my Linksys handles all the traffic. For some reason I wasn't able to do this with the Ubee. |

Yea but this thread is about the ubee combo modem not the motorola one |

RacerbobPremium join:2001-06-24 Webster, NY | True, but I think that MetalMike did mention the Ubee ? As a side note, the installer just left here. I got the Motorola modem with my Extreme install and it was put into bridge mode from the main office while we waited. Working fine with my Linksys router. -- DirecTV is pretty neat. |

CptGeminiInside your computerPremium join:2004-11-29 Corpus Christi, TX kudos:6 | I'll be getting the digital voice version of the ubee next friday, I can't wait because I can finally get rid of the two modems on my desk, free up an outlet and improve my signals all at the same time. |
|
 | reply to MyDogHsFleas True. I've got that. I've really just recently started getting into this more after getting my Sec+ Certification. Starting to understand securing a network better. |
