There are speed test on the BBR tools page.

»speedtest.net/ is another commonly using test site.

Ideally you would chose the one closest to you. You should also check if your ISP has its own speed test page. Check their web site and you will find the link if they have one. The one at your ISP will be the best to compare against your advertised speed because the test is done from within the ISP's own network and not outside on the public Internet.

You may be testing to a different server, also your QoS on your router maybe configured to give quality of service to your wireless connection. QoS allows you to give priorty to to other computers that are either connected wired or wireless. This all depends on the type of router you own many of the newer routers have many types of options on them and tweaking settings to get an optimal connection. You may want to investigate your router if you know much about them, MTU (Max. Transmission Unit) could be set back on your wired connection as well.
